Simple Slimline Designs

The new slimline dies from Creative Expressions are the bees knees! These new dies range from basic essential frames, and a handful of decorative trio frames and decorative slimline background dies.

They work together to create fun 4" x 8 1/4” slimline cards that fit perfectly in legal envelopes, making them super easy to mail! Talk about happy mail!

We whipped up a couple simple cards for you using these dies along with some cute papers.

Buzzing By To Say Hi

This card uses the largest two frames from the essential die collection, and the gorgeous lavender and honey coloured papers from the Bumblebee’s Dance from The Paper Boutique. We also used the Rustic Honeycomb die from the new Sam Poole Collection from Creative Expressions. Accented with Copper Shine Gilding Polish, this card comes together perfectly!

1. Starting with a 4” x 8 1/4” card base, attach a 4” x 8 1/4” piece of the lightest lavender paper from the coloured card collection.
2. Using the largest two dies from CED1250, cut a frame out of the medium lavender paper from the coloured card collection.
3. Using the second largest die from CED1250, cut a rectangle of the light honey coloured paper and attach to the card.
4. Trim an embellishment from the Bubmlebee’s dance embellishment pad to fit on the light honey card and attach.
5. Attach the lavender frame using foam tape.
6. On the dark honey coloured paper, apply a light swipe of Copper Shine gilding polish. Let dry and cut out with the Rustic Honeycomb die. Trim to your desired size and attach to the card using sticky specks. I like to have it hanging over the frame a little bit to give a 3D effect.
7. Cut a sentiment embellishment out of the Bumblebee’s Dance Embellishment Pad and layer on top of a piece of light honey coloured paper using foam tape. Attach the sentiment on top of the honeycomb cut out.
8. Attach a little piece of the trimmed off honeycomb to the bottom corner to embellish, and voila! Your card is complete!

Whoo-Hoo Needs a Hug?

1. Start with a 4”x8 1/4” card base. Using the Countryside Friends Essentials Card Collection, cut a piece of the cream coloured paper to 4”x8 1/4” and attach to the card base.
2. Cut a piece of the deep blue paper and a piece of the dark green paper from the Card Collection to 3 ¾” x 8”. On each trimmed piece, centre the Decorative Squared Stripes die (CED1255) and cut using your die cutting machine.
3. Trim ¼” off of the left side of the deep blue paper and line up the left edge with the dark green paper, creating a staggered effect. Attach these sheets with glue or double sided tape, then attach them to the card base.
4. Select an embellishment and a sentiment from the Countryside Friends Die-Cut Collection, and apply with foam tape or pads.
