Aurora Flakes Sunflower Card
Create easy and beautiful cards using edger dies and new Cosmic Shimmer Aurora Flakes
Today I am writing this blog to show you how to quickly and easily you can create background to get many different looks using the new Cosmic Shimmer Aurora Flakes. For this sample I used the aurora flakes in the Jade Gold as well as the Creative Expressions Sunflower Edger die cut.
These Cosmic Shimmer Aurora Flakes will add colour and shine to any craft project! These ultra-thin and colourful flakes can be added your cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor projects and more using double-sided tape or glue. For this Mother's Day card I used Be Creative double-sided tape sheets.
I simply peeled one side of the tape back and added a plain piece of white paper, this will be the back of the aurora flake element for my card. I then peeled the top release paper from the tape paper and added the auora flakes. Using a piece of rubber stamp cleaning pad to move and work the flakes into the paper. I also used this pad to barnish the flakes onto the tape paper. I then trimmed down the piece to a 4.5" x 6.5"
Now you simply want to run your sunflower edger through your cutting machine using a 5" x 6.5" piece of white cardstock. Depending on if you want more or less white on your card front you would move your die to the left or right on your 5" x 6.5" piece of cardstock before running it through your cutting machine.
Now it's time to assemble. To assemble this card I used Sticky Specks. These sheets are filled with micro adhesive dots that will cover the back of your most intricate die cuts like this sunflower edger die. Simply peel back the protective layer of the sticky specks, place your die cut onto the sticky side, close the protective layer, rub over the die cut with your fingers, lift the protective layer, peel off your die and place onto your project. The specks are tacky but still allow you to reposition your die cut if necessary until you firmly press down on it. I simply attached mine to the aurora covered background I created earlier. I lined up the left side of my background piece to the fold on the card so that to leave a .5" white stripe down the right side of the card.
Using stickers is an easy way to embellish your cards and is often overlooked. For this card I used gold sticker stripes to run along the edge of the aurora piece as well as the left edge of my card, just to give a bit more interest. I also decided to use the Happy Mother's Day sticker in the gold to co-ordinate with the gold stripes and the gold in the flakes.
The aurora flakes come in a variety of colors and so do the edger dies so the combinations are endless. I hope you liked this project and give these aurora flake and edger dies a try.
