Use Your Friends Wisely
Let’s face it; some of us just don’t have a creative bone in our bodies. Making an idea come to life isn’t easy for many of us. Perhaps you want to make your own wedding favors but you have no idea where to start, not even one lousy idea in your head. Even if we have an idea in our heads, we often don’t know what’s required to make the project work.
Plan a date to go browsing with a crafty friend. You know the one, she’s always making the best decorations, cakes, and homemade gifts. You wish had the creative talent of her big toe. Ideas seem to ooze from her like some kind of ethereal ectoplasm, and with a wave of her hand, a flick of her wrist, and a snap of her finger, her project magically appears. You secretly hate her for that. But you love that she’s going to help you figure out a way to make your project work. If you’re really all thumbs when it comes to crafts, though, keep it simple. And keep it to one good, crafty friend. Don’t invite the entire bridal party. Too many ideas will come at you, and you’ll feel even more overwhelmed than ever.
Be open to her ideas and suggestions. If she’s a good friend, she already knows a lot about you, what you love, what your favorite colors are, and what the colors or theme of your wedding will be. Once you’ve both decided on the project, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to put things together. Now is the time to enlist your bridesmaids and have a Favor-Making Party.” Make a night of it, and when it’s all said and done you’ll have your favors ready to go, a fun night of bonding with your girls, and one less thing for you to worry about.
