Mystical Seahorse Card
Pink Ink Designs has come out with some stamp sets and the images are so stunning I just had to play with some of them.
I chose this seahorse stamp set because I was attracted to the detailed stamp of the seahorse and I was curious to see if the detail would stamp nicely or not.
For this card I decided to create a background using ink smooshing technique, ink blending and heat embossing for the seahorse itself.
Lets begin with the background.
Using your ink pad spread some ink onto your blending mat, by dabbing it onto the mat. Add a squirt or two of water to the ink and blot your paper onto the wet ink, moving it around creating splotches and interest to the background. Do this a couple of times, heat setting it between each layer, until you get a desired pattern in the background. I used three different shades of blue for this part and just kept working at it keeping the center fairly lighter than the rest of the background.
I really wanted the center of the background to be the focal point for the seahorse so I then took a blending tool and blended on a dark shade of blue and then the black to deepen the color on the edges.
At this point I was loving the results and decided to heat emboss the seahorse image in the center using black embossing powder. Once I heat set that I took my memento markers and colored in the seahorse, using similar colors from the background.
I then mounted my card front onto a black card base. I am still pondering over if I want to add a sentiment or not.
I was totally impressed with the quality of the stamp. The image stamped perfectly with all the detail and clearly visible. Here is an easel card using the Fairy Mouse stamp set from Pink Ink Designs. I was equally impressed with the quality of this stamp set.
I hope you like these card samples and give these stamps a try. You won't be disappointed.
Until next project
